I saw quite a few jetfires in the LA area in the peroid when they were new.
They had water/alcohol  injection to help keep down any tendency toward
detonation.  This was before Knock Sensors.  When the water ran out and the
drivers forgot to refill they the system, the engines detonated themselves
to death!  Within a few years none were left on the road intact.
