Joe and John:
Scarlet (67 Series V Competition) is equipped, to my understanding, as she
came from the works.
She has the mulifuntion, tach, speedometer, water temp and oil temp
instruments. The water temp is to the right of the steering wheel (right
hand steering), the tach is centered over the steering wheel and the oil is
on the extreme left side of the dash (passanger side) above the heater
control knob. The only labeled items on the dash are the "L" on the
headlight knob, the "C" on the choke knob and the arrows on the heater knob
indicating more or less fan noise. The switch layout John has below is the
same as on Scarlet.

Joe,
My understanding is that the only the "competition 4/4s" came with the
tach. My 65 4/4
Didn't have one. But I don't like driving a manual xmission with out one,
so I put in one
As thought it were a 4/4 Series V competition.
One other item, from what I've been able to ascertain, the 4/4s didn't come
with a temp gauge.
However, I would think that many owners had the dealer install a temp gauge
and or a tach.
I don't know what the "P" switch is for. On my car I have the following
switches:
--------------------------------------------
wiper dash driving
switch lights light
on ft.
badge bar

Turn sig
switch

Choke ign Headlight
knob switch knob
--------------------------------------------

Hi folks,
I am providing the usual tips and consolation to a new
Morgan owner named Mark. He has acquired a '58 4/4 which
was fitted with a 1300cc Triumph Spitfire motor.
Setting aside the cleverness (or horror) of grafting a Spit
motor in a Morgan, he had a couple of basic questions I
couldn't answer:
1. "There is a knob on the dashboard on the right hand side
above the choke labeled with a 'P'. What is it for?" (It does
not seem to do anything that he can detect. Also)
2. "Is it unusual that my car (1958 4/4) does not have a tach?".
I don't have a knob with a 'P' and my so-called competition
model came with a tach, but I never noticed what the majority
of Mogs have in the way of rev-counters.
Thanks in advance for the help.
