Bob
I think that you refer to the early moss box as installed in the
Jag . Fred Sisson has a well detailed artical on the transfer of parts from
box to box to accomodate the Morgan input shaft that is necessary to use
the Jag box . I did the converson and used my old box with the best parts .
Fred also warns us that only some parts are compatible to the original Jag
setup of certain years .I followed his instructions precisely . The only
trouble I have had , is with my remote mounting of the solenoid. I should
have put a ball joint at the crank arm I used at the actuating lever . I'm
either touching the tunnel at times or there is a bind that I have not
found . When working , the overdrive is great .
A word of caution if you consider this change ,your tunnel will
change and so will your interior seats . I went with a dual type of foam (
More dense layer on bottom and softer layer on the top ) seat slightly
higher , from the original height and get an excellent ride . You must
remember the space for your bottom gets a little smaller as the tunnel gets
longer .I can detail how I made the seats if you wish but basiclly I put an
inclined open box ( open from the front ) between the frames .This is a
good spot for papers , glasses , flashlight , camera , etc.I made a sheet
aluminum plate the shape I wanted , then screwed it over the box , and
had the guys do the seats up as shown in the " Original Morgan "
You also have to cut your frame as outlined by Fred . I used a
TR6 mount and 1 in. square tubing for the structure .I do have pictures of
the whole thing if anyone is interested .
It was a worthwhile conversion but you still have the old Moss box and
old overdrive .
Cheers Glenn Nigh Old # 5112 The miles are going
on .
