Jeff,

While it is true that P2750 is the lowest chassis number with a TR2 engine,
it was not the first Morgan built with a TR2. In fact, P2750 (a DHC) was
tested 19 October 1953 with a Vanguard engine. It was one of the Flat-Rad
cars that were converted to round cowl after completion. At that time the
vanguard engine was swaped out for a TR2 (TS1184ME) and the car was
dispatched 12 may 1954 to The Bridge garage, Warwick.

Morgan received engines in batches and they were installed not necessarily
in serial number order. Likewise, completed cars were not necessarily
completed and/or shipped in serial number order.

The first Morgan dispatched with a TR2 engine was T3015, TS465ME on 26
January 1954 followed by:
T3058, TS118ME on 24 February
T3070, TS275ME on 03 March
T3069, TS656ME on 24 March
T3071, TS276ME on 26 March
T3072, TS424ME on 26 March
T3089, TS456ME on 09 April
T3031, TS655ME on 12 April
T3033, TS674ME on 12 April
T3043, TS663ME on 12 April
T3051, TS654ME on 12 April (Our car)
T3053, TS675ME on 12 April
T3054, TS688ME on 12 April
T3092, TS449ME on 20 April
T3075, TS879ME on 21 April
T3076, TS1193ME on 21 April
T3079, TS1185ME on 21 April
T3084, TS466ME on 21 April
T3086, TS528ME on 21 April
T3032, TS885ME on 22 April
T3091, TS443ME on 24 April
T3048, TS729ME on 27 April
T3094, TS437ME on 05 May
and finaly P2750 on 12 May

The Prefix "P" (For Plus 4?) was used on the flat-rad cars and also the
Vanguard engined round cowl cars. When the TR2 became available the prifix
"T" was used. This was dropped by 1955 after most cars had TR2 engines.
The suffix "ME" (Morgan Engine?) was used on the engines supplied to Morgans
as they were slightly different (engine mounting plate, water pump pulley,
etc.) from the engines going into Triumphs.

The early '54s (sometimes called "Transition Cars") were shipped with
varying combinations of low headlamps, high headlamps, flat grills (in a
round cowl) and normal grills. After T3136, all were produced with the
"Normal" configuration.
