As a private individual, you are pretty much restricted to the importation
of vehicles 25 years old (production date) or older.
Next best suggestion would be for you to contact Win Sharples at Cantab,
<http://www.cantab-motors.com/> as he could probably convert, equip, and
certify any Plus 8 from 1987 to 1995, and likewise any Zetec 1.8 litre 4/4 to
1995, all prior to the air-bag and on-board diagnostic requirements in 1996 of
US DOT & EPA. You could find a car over there in LHD which you like, or
have one of the U.K. Morgan Agents act on your behalf, have the car shipped
to Cantab (which have Manufacturer's Status with DOT & EPA), and have his
broker clear the car through customs. A rough guess on the extensive but
largely invisible structural modifications, lighting, switch gear, and the
like
would be an additional 8 - 10 K. Bill Wykeham would be a good place to start
at <http://www.wykehams.com/> Now that Melvyn Rutter is a "Main Agent",
you may want to try him, as well. Both Bill and Melvyn have a number of
Continental clients, (LHD). Win Sharples is on good terms with both of these

Plus 4's are totally out, as no Rover 2.0 Litre was ever certified in the
U.S.
Alternately, you could order a fully certified air-bag and on-board
diagnostic
Plus 8 like mine any way you want, and wait perhaps 12 - 18 months,
BUT... you had better hurry, as there were only 100 4.0 OBD II engines
sold to Morgan Motor Co. by Rover Group for the U.S. and Australian
markets (1998 R.Y. only) AND this engine configuration is no longer
produced by Land Rover, (SAGEM vs. Bosch engine management, etc.,
etc.). Expect to pay 70 - 75 K for one of these by now in a high level of
trim.
