Bob- lining thickness is not that important (when new) but it is important to have the shoes arc-machined to the exact ID of the (each) drum. Don't think thay will wear-in. With the minimal braking power available, you can drive for several years before the shoes make full contact Brake lining is pretty stout material. You need all the contact you can get. Think of the rods as "flying wires". They only work under tension so a nut on the outside is not needed, Fred Sisson |
