I'm replacing the deep, deep oil pan on a former racing engine (1600 CC Ford,
'66 4/4) with a stock one. (The deep pan was nearly punctured in about 10
places from riding so low to the road). The installer of the pan had put an
"extended" oil pick-up on to reach down into the bottom of the pan. I need to
shorten said pickup so that the stock pan will fit. How is this pickup
attached to the block? Is it a press fit? How is it pressed in if so, since
I'm sure the consequences of its falling out are pretty bad? My engine manual
does not specify; maybe it's so easy I'm supposed to be able to dope it out,
but.....Thanks!
