A Vincent is a v twin British motorcycle of the 30's, late 40's and
early 50's. They were considered the fastest (street) thing on 2 wheels.
The cooking model would do 110mph back in the 30's and the "Black
Shadow" in stock form as a street bike would do 125mph+ back in 1948. In
that year a new bike speed record of over 150mph was set by a Vincent.
The rider was prone on the bike wearing a bathing suit, leather helmet
and tennis shoes! There is still one running at Bonneville each year
that holds the "pure"(sit upright, no inclosed fairings) motorcyle
record of 227mph (or close). It is far from stock but the basic engine
is still almost 50 years old. Never heard of a Vincent auto although I
did see a picture of a Mog 3 wheeler with a Vincent V twin engine.
