paint choice

I have just had my Plus 8 painted, and asked the fellow about that too, and
he told me that the clear coat is just another coat of paint, except that
it's clear.  One problem with it he told me is that, if it's scratched, it
shows a white line, whereas the straight color will not... I elected to stay
with no clear coat, and have been well pleased...
