He is certainly right in terms of the need to adjust the ignition timing. 
 If you do not the resulting knock will cause piston crown damage quite 
quickly.

There will be some loss of power, but your perception of it is more 
important than any figures he may give.  The change is cheap  (no parts 
required) try it and see what you think.  You may also find that the car is 
more sensitive to variation in ignition timing as caused by points wear.

I went to a Morgan specialist to ask his advice about unleaded conversion
for my Kent engine.
He told me: " Using unleaded fuel RON 95 requires a different ignition
timing,   3  instead
8 degrees B.T.D.C.  This will reduce the performance of your engine by 10
to 20 % ".
Is he right ?
Who has experience ?
