Alsie -- Al Mamlet -- died Tuesday, 2/16. He held on as long as he could and

not go gently.
AL-APALOOZA, a celebration of Alsie's life, will take place on April 5, in
Woodstock, NY (Al was a major figure in his community). For details or for

Al Mamlet, much loved Woodstock bon vivant, radio personality and
psychotherapist
died Tuesday, February 16, at Benedictine Hospital, of leukemia. Alsie was
alleged
to have been born on August 31, 1937 in Newark, N.J; he attended Dartmouth
College
and the University of Miami Medical School. Moving to Woodstock in 1973, Al
pioneered therapy programs such as Group Labs in New York and Group Fromage in
Cementon. He was known as a scintillating conversationist and the prolific
author
of such works as "A Guide to the Perplexed" and "Adventures in Overeating." A
shy
extrovert, Al emceed and auctioneered countless benefits, and is a true
Woodstock
Treasure.
He is survived by his brother Larry and sister-in-law Barbara of Maryland,
daughter
Nica of New York City, son Alexander of New York and parts unknown, nieces and
nephews, great-nephews and nieces, his ex-wife Frayda, Sister-in-law Nancy,
dearly-beloved friend Bobby Shlasko and numerous satisfied lovers.
