First of all it is patently not my fault that you live in the Peoples
Democratic Republic of Massachusetts.
After seeing how Winnie Becker had rigged a sideways seat in the back of
her +4 for her son Morgan Dane, these were from pictures as at that time
he had somewhat outgrown the set-up, I did a take-off of the system when
my daughter was a toddler. Now all this would be illegal. It has
occurred to me though that with a 4/4 you could hinge the paneling by the
spare tire and make a rumble seat. The luggage area now covered by the
tonneau cover could be hinged by a framed windscreen from the front,
somewhat as was done on a Triumph 1800.
As to Texas winters, today when I went to get my yearly haircut, the
temperature was in the mid 50's. The sun was shining so everything was
o. k. Since I have through the years driven Matilda in all kinds of
weather with no top or sidescreens, including the snow, this has nothing
to do with her capabilities, just that with only five hairs left I don't
like it. Of course this condition is partialy due to Matilda being use
for daily transport most years, this being due to her incredible
reliability(gales of laughter from Nogueria). At this time of year our
weather conditions become more apparent for those acclimatized to Texas.
Since we have the two seasons, summer and not summer, it is necessary to
observe our version of Fall. One day the leaves in the trees begin to
look slightly yellow, the next day they are brown and then that night we
hit 6.3 on the Richter scale, as every leaf falls at the same time. Then
we return to light summer without leaves. Next, occasionally, may come a
Blue Norther which is a problem because between us and the North Pole
ther are only a few strands of Barbed Wire(locally pronounced "Bob Whar".
