Are you sure that this is collision damage and not "Nogueira Damage"
caused by "dropping the clutch" at stop lights?? ;-)
I recently had the axle tubes welded up on my +4 (5077) and I understand
that this failure is pretty common. I'd also expect it can be caused by
jacking the car with a floor jack under the differential adding a lot of
bending stress to the axle tubes.
If you still need the axle measurements later this week, let me know and
I will check my (welded) axle...
