Another approach is to attach the license plate mounting valence with
longer screws going through small coil springs. I saw an article on this
somewhere. The idea is that the springs keep a constant pressure on the
valence -- enough to hold it in place -- but they also allow the valence to
flex against the springs with out bending -- theoretically.
Personnally, I (and fellow 3/4 MOG members who have been waiting for the
end of this restoration for years) am looking forward to the day when the
rear license plate on my Mog will scrape on the ground occaisionally.
