Hi all! My name is Mike and I am on Cornell University's Mini Baja team. I
have a quick question on CVT placement. We are planning on running a
drivetrain configuration with our engine connected to a Polaris P-90 PVT
connected to a Polaris gearbox. We are planning on mounting our engine low,
the gearbox almost directly above the engine and the PVT connecting the two
with the drive pulley attached to the engine (lower than the driven pulley).
Based on how a belt driven CVT works I don't think mounting the drive pulley
lower than the driven should be a problem but I figured since this is only our
second car I would ask around. Have any of your teams ever used a
configuration such as this and if so were there any problems with it? Any
advice is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mike LaRose
