If the spacer is sticking out so as to stop the alternator fitting between
the block brackets then a socket on the back large enough for the spacer
tube to fit inside, then clamped up in a vice should move it back in. If
there is slack and some spacer tube sticking out the inside face then just
bolting it up should move it into the correct position. My 73 18V rear
bracket is adjustable also, see
