I just checked the Mass law on line at http://www.malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleXIV/Chapter90/Section13A and it states that "(b) any person riding in a motor vehicle manufactured before July first, nineteen hundred and sixty-six; " is exempt.
