Non-setting like Hermetite Red is probably best for things like intakes and covers. Don't use silicone, most people put great gobbets on which oozes out into the places where you don't want it, but if you carefully put a thin smear unless it is a very small part it will probably skin if not dry before you can get the parts back together.
