This is where the Rover V8 is such a beauty. You can remove the
distributor, put a drill on the oil pump and get pressure before the engine
ever turns. Still needs all the oil ways to be clear of course, the shells
to be checked for clearance, and I oiled my V8 shells as well before
refitting.
