That should always be done, the manufacturers figures on many cars specify it,
although for the MGB the manual only specifies increasing the *rear* pressures
by 2psi, which should already be 3 or 4 psi higher than the fronts. Of course
if you are already running above the 'high speed/heavy load' figure then it
may not be a good idea to go even further.

I've been known to pump 'em up for road trips with a big load. It seem
to be important to maintain a 2-3 psi differential from front to rear
though.
