Aggravated by a stress riser created when the outer door skin was folded
to create the seal locating flange.
Weld a tiny bead across this sharp corner where the flange transitions
to the vent window mounting platform, then blend and the problem will
never re-surface.

Yes, but it doesn't have anything to do with the mirror.
It's caused by the unit body flexing, which causes the
windshield frame to press against the wing window assembly,
which in turn presses against the door skin. Classic
stress-induced metal fatigue.
