How to care for new top?

Now that I've spent the big bucks for a new  vinyl top, what measues should I 
take to make it last? I see a lot of the (shiney) silicone products claim to be 
good for vinyl, but I've aiso heard warnings about silicone. My car is daily 
driver and the top sees a LOT of UV.
