Hello,
My name is Harley Muse and I purchased a '77 MGB just over a year ago.
I found this list by virtue of a member of another list I belong to
which caters to vintage Airstream trailer owners. I just wanted to
introduce myself and to let you know that I'll be listening in and may
have a question from time to time. My primary problem since purchasing
my car has been the fact that I can be driving along and suddenly the
engine just dies in mid-stride. I've had it to several non-MG-related
garages trying to locate the problem without much success. I did,
however, notice that the heater control valve was leaking and dripping
water directly onto the distributor cap and thought perhaps that might
be the problem. Therefore, I recently changed the heater control valve
and at the same time replaced the thermostat as it was running hot. I
gathered enough courage this morning to drive it 37 miles from my home
to my commuter lot in the dark and didn't have the first problem with
it. I didn't notice the tell-tale light dimming of a battery dropping
in voltage output, nor did the temperature gauge rise above mid-point.
Now, hopefully when I return to the parking lot in a few hours she'll be
sitting there waiting for her run back home.
Thanks for being there in advance.
Harley
