help with restoration..ID this lamp? anyone? help?

This lamp is on an old race car I am helping a friend restore.
We have pretty much scratched our heads on this one, as it does not look to be
lucas.
can anyone ID this puppy?
It is definitely not a lucas map lamp, license plate lamp, or accessory lamp.
Seems to be of american lineage...

if you have any ideas, I am open to suggestions...
