Well, soon after I bought my current B, I discovered (the hard way)
that my gas gauge read high. Likewise the temp gauge wasn't right. So
I got under the dash with my trusty VOM in order to do some
troubleshooting. So I discovered that the VS's mounting screw was loose
and the mounting tab and cowl had some sorrosion on them (bad ground).
Originally the VS was mounted with the tab pointed down, unlike the one
in Eric's pic. When I put the VS back in I mounted it with the tab
pointing up. Guess what, the gauges still read high! So I turned the
thing back over and the gauges have been reading correctly ever since.
I suppose the above could be the result of something being wrong with
my particular VS but I've never had the chance to test another one and
since the gauges are working OK I've let it be.
Cheers,
CR
