A few suggestions:
1. Halogen headlights, so she can see where she is going in the dark.
2. If it is to be an all year, all weather car do EVERYTHING you can to
prevent rust (depends on where you live as to how important this is!). Lots
of waxoyl, underseal, regular cleaning of the car, particularly the bits you
can't see (underneath, wheel arches). After a heavy rain check the floors
and inside the boot for dampness to see if there are any door/boot lid seal
leaks.
3. Silicon brake fluid, so if it does spill, you won't start a potential
rust spot where the paint has stripped under the spill.
4. Make sure the car you get has a brake servo, or you fit one if it
doesn't.
