The squeal is another key symptom indicating that your throw out bearing
and pressure plate have worn out, and with the squeal, the wearing out
rate has accelerated - it is bare metal rubbing against bare metal. Once
you separate the transmission and engine, you will know exactly what I
mean. There is no quick fix unfortunately. Been there, done that.

Subject: Fwd: First MGB Clutch - Additional Question
Thanks, everyone, for the advice on replacing the clutch. Not to sound
like
a chicken, but the car was sitting for four years or so and the
odometer
registers only 79,000 miles. I did have the car moving briefing on the
road and
it shifted smoothly on jack stands, although the clutch did squeal when
engaged.
Since the slave piston pushed through the cylinder, will a longer
pushrod
help? Is it possible to grease the throwout bearing?
Thanks again,
Steve Hughes
