We had a guy in my T-club that this happened to. After pulling his
hair out about it for a while he was finally talked into pulling the
head, putting some oil in the cylinders and measuring how fast they
drained around the pistons as well as pressure testing the head
itself. In the end the rings hadn't seated properly and he had to
have the cyliders re-honed.
That said this was at about the 7k mark and I don't know if you've put
enough mileage on yours to tell if it's what's going on. Lastly I've
always wondered if he could have found it out without taking off the
head, maybe with a pressure gauge?
Hopefully a wiser head than mine on the list can shed some light on it...
