MGB: Bouncing Speedometer Needle

All,
 
The speedo needle on my '80 MGB tends to bounce around a 10mph range of my 
actual speed.  It's more pronounced when I'm traveling over 30mph.  I recall 
our '66 B did the same thing when we owned it in the early '70s.  Is this a 
common problem and can it be fixed (by me) easily?
