If I were going to do such a thing and were going to use a standard
differential in the process, I would find one from a golf cart or a four
wheeler. If you use an MG axle, you will already have 150 or 200 pounds in
your car.

Subject: rear differential question - sorta car related - sorta not
Humor me here :^)
OK - so if you were going to make a 4 wheeledd pedal powered (human
powered) vehicle which was basically going to be just a few hundred
pounds at the most, and it would have two wheels powering it, would you
at all consider using the differential from a vehicle such as an MG to
drive the two wheels? That's assuming some kind of pedal/chain/gearing
system was driving a main driveshaft, and then each wheel was off the
differential.
