How sad that the MG company should allow its advertising agency to produce
such a pathetically sophomoric piece of rubbish! In the hey-day of MG,
"Safety Fast" was a logo that told the public that MG was a car to be
seriously considered by sporting drivers. Are we to assume that the
present-day MGs are being marketed for self-indulgent, chauvinistic,
long-haired, big-lipped louts too lazy to pump up their own tires?
And the suggestion that the woman is blowing more than the tire makes the
advertisement yet another example of how modern advertisers have no decency
and no thought that impressionable kids might be watching this ad.
