voltage stabilizer?

I took the 79B on a 300 mile jaunt this weekend and noticed that initially
the fuel and temperature gauge were both fluctuating slightly and slowly;
going down then back up again. Eventually they stopped doing this and
registered normally. Is this the voltage stabilizer starting to die?
