Steve - if it runs fine and you only have a problem restarting after a short
stop then it isn't the fuel cap problem mentioned. Poor hot starting can
definitely be caused by a rich mixture, which itself can be caused by too high
a float setting, or it could be ignition related. Firstly I'd confirm that
when it *won't* start you still have sparks at each plug lead, then I'd check
the settings of plug gaps, points gap/dwell and timing as a matter of course,
and then the mixture (single carb I presume). Rich mixture problems can often
be 'overcome' by cranking with the throttle wide-open, which if it does allow
the car to start does point to mixture. If it restarts earlier if the bonnet
is left up then again it points to a general heat and fuel problem, if it make
little difference it could be an electrical problem.

Subject: Re: Vapor Lock?
Thanks again, Paul. It runs fine for 30 minutes, but when I stop for a
short while, it starts but runs poorly and will stall. After sitting for a
longer period, it will run fine again. Any ideas what else I can check
besides the vapor lock route?
