I think a lot depends on the model MGA. I just put the minilite (Minator)
replica wheels on a '59 MGA 1500 and there is a definite interference with
the front spindles and the center hole of the wheel. I think the quote I
was told was that "You'll need to do a little bit of fettling to clear the
spindles". Yeah, that was an understatement! I still haven't found a way
to correctly mount the little plastic center caps. Of course, once you
Dremel the crap out of the wheels you probably can't send them back. Since
I lost my enthusiasm for grinding I didn't do the backs so I'll have to do
it next time if I want to rotate the tires :(
I haven't driven the car yet but I don't see any interference with the tie
rods. I've also been told that you don't have this spindle issue with
1600s.
