Not to change the subject, but can you replace the actual shaft for the shifter without pulling the transmission? Sorry...I have never pulled one before and the DPO cut the shaft in half and secured the shifter to a metal ball knob. I guess the reasoning was that it would be a faster shift? I want to put the wood knob back on but can't on the chopped shaft. I am just wondering if I can replace the shaft without busting knuckles or creating a new wrench. Help please!
