This brings up a point for me. My tires are getting old.
Reminds me of the part in "A Christmas Story" - they
are tires in the academic sense only; they are round and once
made of rubber.

The 4 on the car are XZXs 175-14. So probably late 80s maybe
early 90s tires. The spare is a 165-14 and looks even older. Probably,
the original.

I plan on getting 5 new tires. But I'm wondering if I should
find a emergency spare off a Nissan Altima or Saab 900 or
something instead?

Tire Rack has some Sumotomo (is that the spelling?) in 185/70-14
pretty cheap. Discount Tire is a bit murky as to what could go on.
When I got tires for my Altima last year, I talked to the guy and
he thought maybe a Radial T/A might be in that size. I've also seen
Tires Plus advertise Dayton tires in the right size pretty cheap.

Any opinions on brands? The specs on Tire Rack make the Sumotomo look
pretty good.

Oh, and regarding the original post. Someone replied that the 185/70s
go on the Rostyles just fine. The original question was for a '64. That
wouldn't have Rostyles. Aren't the Rostyles a half inch wider than the
original wheels?
