I arrived at the church in our 50 TD, all polished up and detailed, looked
great. After the wedding the photographer wanted pictures of me escorting my
wife out of the car (she wouldn't ride in it - didn't want to muss her hair).
Anyway - the photo was of her getting out of the car and me holding her hand
helping her. The previous day I had spent two hours cleaning the car and got
everything cleaned except apparently the door hinges on the passenger side.
She had a grease stain six inches wide on her beautiful wedding dress. I'm
guessing if that had happened before the wedding I would still be single.
By the way, that car was one my father had bought in 1964 (the year I was
born). All through my life - till that point there were only two constants my
father and that car (we moved around a lot). After the wedding my father took
us aside and presented us with the keys and registration for the TD. Best gift
I ever received. Of course I still have it, and someday I hope to be able to
freely give it to one of my kids (problem is I have three boys) - guess I'll
have to get one more car.
