Another MG myth. Internal mechanical problems with the OD are rare, more
likely with the gearbox itself. Most problems are electrical or poor
maintenance. If it's good enough for the V8 it's good enough for the
4-cylinder, and even on the V8 it's the gearbox that breaks with frequent
use of full power, not the OD. OD 3rd (where provided) is great for twisty
bits or long inclines, and flicking OD in and out with a switch is easier
than keep changing gear.
