Last election (2000), one of my co-workers was running for a local office
under the Green Party. Some of his ideas sounded pretty good to an old
liberal like me and I even nicknamed him "herbal" at work since he heavily
supports the legalization of marijuana. But he was and is an avowed
disciple of Ralph Nader and I realized much of the radical Nader agenda
when I was checking my co-worker's webpage where he had links to Nader's
positions. In particular, under the guise of fuel efficiency and safety,
Nader would have us crush our old cars and recycle them so we can buy the
newer generation of cars. I can't seem to locate that particularly position
statement right now and I would certainly love to see this Road and Track
article if anyone finds it. The point is that Nader still is a danger to
our hobby as well as to other aspects of our lives (US as well as
international). And besides, it can be argued that Nader gave us Bush in
the last election but thats another story.
