Good point. Americans are different. We are a
boldly self reliant people, for better or worse.
That probably comes from the fact that many
immigrants to America were natural explorers
with a substantial dose of ADD (attention
defiicate disorder), and I say that with no humor
intended. Most of the Lewis & Clark types just
did not fit the 'bank teller' mold and if you
examine their personality profiles today, they
fir the ADD criteria. (Personally, I find the
very definition as a 'disorder' to be in
question.)
Anyway, that is a contributor. Americans also
are less educated than many Europeans. We are
also less likely to do what someone tells us to
do ... just because they told us to!
But wait, I promised to not get on the soap-box!
And now I have violated that promise.
