Well, a _real_ cashiers check is pretty close to cash. But these
scammers are using either completely forged checks, or are managing to
steal blank checks.
You can of course always call the issuing institution to verify the
validity of the check, but if the person wants 'cash back', it's pretty
obvious... :)

Remember that these people aren't 'in the hobby'...they're simply
criminals.
