Listen to Lew:

He's correct about overgearing these cars.

A stock TD only has 54 HP and NO airdynamics. It's like pushing a barn
door. The TF 1500 came with 63 BHP, 4.875 rear and a top end of about
85 MPH. The MGA 1500 came with 68 BHP, 4.3 rear, and a top of 95+.
The difference is areodynamics. You could put a XPAG into an MGA and it
could easily pull a 4.5 diff and go 90 MPH as streamlining makes that
much difference.

He should also consider that when changing the rear axle ratio,
acceleration will go down, and perhaps even top end. The engine really
needs to be uprated to stage 2 and it's 64 BHP for a 4.555 differential.
