Maybe grasping at straws here, but was poking around under the hood this
evening and noticed that the last (closest to the firewall) manifold stud
(the one between the 3rd and 4th cylinders, with the fixing washer on it)
was loose - i.e., the washer was about 1/2 inch away from contact with the
manifold. Could that have anything to do with the smoking problem?
Going to get a compression gauge and run the test this week-end, but was
just curious in the meantime....
