Ok, Chris, since you asked for opinions...!
Personally, IMHO, my feeling is etc.:
1) Putting a GM V-6 into an MG makes it something in between an MG and a
GM product. You'll be losing the essential 'Englishness' of the car and it
will be a bastard. Besides, have you ever heard the exhaust note from this
engine?? Precursor to the fart cans kids use on their Hondas these days.
2) Using the B-O-P/LR V-8, OTOH, is simply a reincarnation of the
MG-produced MGB GT V8 and therefore maintains the 'Englishness' that I
believe is important to keep whole.
3) You can do whatever you want to your car. It's yours. Most of us don't
have a problem with customization (unless it's sticking a 4WD chassis
underneath - then, you'd suck big time).
The opinions expressed above are solely that - opinions - and therefore
