I don't think it matters as long as it is consistent, which is where
motoring journalists (driving different cars every five minutes and having
to get used to them) are the last people to listen to when considering
buying a car for long term use. I drove a Ford Sierra for some years on a
commute through some fast twisty bits. Then I changed to a Cavalier
Diplomat (luxury more than performance) and on the first commute I turned
into one particular bend and had a momentary panic that the steering had
failed. But I soon compensated for its softer settings. Then I got a
Cavalier GSI (performance more than comfort) and on the same bend turned in
and had to mementarily straighten up again as it was turning in too quickly,
but I soon got used to that too. All were consistent.
