Received this message from a visitor to my website. He's owned a 78 RBB in
the past and is interested in purchasing a CBB. Thought that maybe somebody
might be able to help him.

Thanks for the message. A 78 RBB is nothing like a decent CBB. All the
difference in the world! The CBB models have EVERY advantage.
You possibly might be able to buy Black Beauty. The guy that bought it is
not mechanically minded and I don't believe that he has the love for it that
I did. He was starting to cool after he bought and paid for it, but had not
yet actually picked it up. His wife was the one originally hot for it. She
thought it was cute. He asked to get out of it, that they had just been to
the Michigan auto show and she was now really interested in Mustangs. They
took delivery but I don't believe they are real enthusiastic. I'll ask them
if you would like. They paid me $6,000. I understand that they have had a
brake failure, maybe the master cylinder. I believe that, though Black
Beauty was not perfect, she was still worth more, maybe $7000 to $7500 in
the springtime to the right person. I had TWO other people very interested
in the weeks after I had already sold her that I believe would have paid
around that price. I feel that I sold her too cheap.
Now, all that being said, you should join the autox.team.net list. These are
a great group of guys (and a gal or two I believe), about 500 of them, that
share the common interest of MG's. Some have been around since the early
days of LBC cars and really know their stuff. They will make me and my
knowledge look like a novice in comparison. They will know where you can
find CBB's of various conditions and age at a reasonable price, and
virtually anything else you might want to know about MGs. Though I now have
another Black Beauty, a Corvette roadster (Vette people call it a "Vert"),
I'm still an active member of the MG list. It is a little hassle to sign up
on the list but it doesn't cost anything. The process to join takes a little
effort and you have to correctly respond to a couple of verifications. The
list manager may also make you wait a day or so while he reviews you. Click

I greatly enjoyed reading about Black Beauty, and would be very interested
in learning about any current projects you're involved in and any
reconditioned
MGB's you might know of that are available for sale. I used to own a '78
MGB,
and am very interesting in finding a nice one from the "chrome era."
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Norman Harrison
