Right because:
1) HTML messages are always larger due to the encoding for font,
colors, etc.
3) Decreased transmit time.
4) Decreased receive time.
5) Requires less storage space in the archives. Just think of all the
extra, and probably not needed, fluff that would need space.
6) Encourages writers to choose words and descriptions carefully.
7) Prevents spread of virii and worms.
8) Saves storage space on one's own hard drive for those that keep some
messages.
9) Cuts down on bandwidth on the internet.
10) Increases the receivers mail box space. Nothing like getting a two
sentence email with background and cute colors that takes 35 KB instead
of 2 KB. It happened on another list until the moderator reset the
parameters.
All of the above also applies to the indiscriminate use of quote or
forward. That's why Mark B. had to add the trailer message at the
bottom. Nothing worse then someone quoting a whole digest to answer one
message amongst them all.
