I'm replacing the semi-eliptical leaf springs on my midget right now,
and had a devil of a time getting the right side shackle plate off the
back shackle bracket. It basically ran into the gas tank and couldn't
be removed. I had to actually loosen up the shackle bracket to get it
out.

Now my question is: does the direction of the shackle plate (male)
really matter? IE nuts on the inside or outside? If i do nuts on the
inside, then it's easy to get it on/off. I'm guessing it really doesn't
matter but I might as well ask.

BTW if you've got your Victoria British catalog handy, i'm talking about
the shackle plate being part #18-228 (24 on the picture) and the shackle
bracket being part #18-210 (19 on the picture).
