Sorry--bad news. Remove engine. Replace plug. Replace engine.
Encourage him to use all diagnostic tools available---mirrors, lights,
dyes, etc to be sure that this is really the source of the leak. Alas,
it may well be. The original plugs can be getting mighty thin after 45
years.
