I had my '78 MGB shipped from Washington on an open carrier.
My only complaint was that the arranging agent dropped out of the loop
after it was shipped, meaning I probably could have contracted directly
with the shipping company for less.
But it's bullsh*t that it needs to be closed. IMHO, unless it's a very
valuable model, ship it open (reasons to not would be to avoid oil dripping
from cars above). The car fit fine on the trailer.
